Borderlands Game Of The Year App Reviews

I recently bought this on my 2012 Macbook Pro 13-inch (2.5GHz, Intel 4000 HD graphics). It runs quite well and hasnt had a hiccup yet on this latest version. In terms of game play, if you enjoy looting, questing with a mix of first person shooter - then this game is definitely for you. Great graphics, lots of fun and funny characters. The story-line isnt the best by any means, but its enjoyable.

I downloaded and installed without issue, but the game wont launch. The app icon bounces once and then nothing. Snooping in the application package seems to suggest a problem with OpenPlay: "cannot execute binary file" — Apparently my machine meets the specs (recent imac, 10.6.8) but something isnt working. Disappointing. Hows the app store for refunds? UPDATE — At Ferals suggestion I did the obvious thing and downloaded the application a second time — 18GBs later I have a working install of the game. Phew.

After being able to hook up a PS3 controller to my Mac Ive had more fun than playing on the PS3 itself! I hope Borderlands 2 comes to the App Store.

I bought this game from the App store about a month ago and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. I use it on my 2012 27" iMac and the graphics and gameplay are great. My only concern with the game is that on the "Secret Army of General Knoxx" add-on, there is a bit of lag when driving the Cheetah Paw on the highway, particularly on the Crimson Tollway. If that could be fixed, I would change my rating to 5 stars.

Theres no denying that Borderlands is an awesome game. I purchased it on PC a while ago, but bought it again for Mac for the DLC. It looks great, its a lot of fun and there isnt a better fps for loot lovers. This ports only issue has nothing to do with the game itself, but rather that Ferrel Interactive uses GameRanger for its online play. GameRanger runs outside of the Borderlands App and the basic free account doesnt let you use voice chat; you have to pay an extra $20 a year for that. Being forced to pay extra for a feature that is so common in other games feels unfair. A co-op based game like Borderlands really benefits from being able to communicate easily with your teammates. Again, this isnt a fault of the game itself, mearly this port. Its still worth it, the game really is great, but it did sting when I found out after buying it.

This game is absolutely astonishing and although slightly laggy on my 2010 Mac Pro 17 with 4gb ram, it is still playable, and this game is especially great because it already comes with all the DLCs so you dont have to purchase anymore features. I hope they make a Borderlands 2 whith all the DLCs. Warning though, this game does contain some inapprpriot language or scenes so do consider this before buying.

Just bought Borderlands 2 and decided to play GOTY while it downloads. Starts up normal, get to the main menu and its stuck looks normal but the keyboard is unresponsive cannot force close hide or switch to windowed mode. The mouse moves but is completely useless. Ended up holding the power button down after spending 20 min trying every possible method to avoid a hard shutdown, hard shut downs CAUSE DAMAGE. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER!!! Considering asking for a refund. Regardless I will never buy from Feral Interactive LTD again. specs: MBP 15-inch non-retna 2011 (late) 2.6 GHz quad 8 GB ram NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 vram

*I recently gave the game a 4 star review. This an update* After researching to find a solution to why GameRanger wasn’t opening, I stumbled upon their site and it turns out that the Mavericks update deleted the much needed libraries for GameRanger to funtion properly. Here is their comment on the matter: (Posted on their October 30, 2013 update) "Unfortunately, Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) removed a core networking library which prevents GameRanger from working at all…" "A GameRanger update is being worked on, but this has required rewriting a significant percentage of the code. This is far more work and far more complicated than originally anticipated, so will take some time to complete." "This was previously announced within the GameRanger apps news broadcast system." The game is very well done and I very much like it, but until this issue is fixed, I will be assigning 3 stars. (5 when this issue is resolved). I beleive Feral Interactive has done an excellent job, but they need GameRanger to do their part. People still play this game, and I’m one to prove that.

I already have Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2 on Xbox 360. These games are such beautiful classics and are a must-have to anybody. Be it the casual gamer, a competitive player, or kids with a comical sense for drawn violence and awesome backwards humor. I don’t mind buying the games twice at all. These things come once in a lifetime, we must support them!

Quite original graphics and great gameplay! Thank you for the sale, the game is worth every penny.

Love the game but 2K wont fix it to allow multiplayer anymore without doenloading unreliable third party gameranger garbage…….

　グラフィックノベルな映像が、かえってリアルな異世界を感じさせてくれます。金田バイクを思わせるような乗り物や、素敵なガジェット。西部劇的な世界観。音楽も良いし、景色も美しい。アクションゲームとしても、緊張感、恐怖感が良いです。本当に素晴らしい。また、随所に感じるブラックユーモアが、えてして暗くなりがちな気分を救ってくれますね。 　ちなみに日本語化ですが、BioShockのレビューにもみなさんが書かれているように、PC向けのものが利用可能です。それによって、ある程度日本語化されます（有志の方に感謝）。 　方法は、"borderlands 日本語化MOD AppStore Mac ゲーム"などでググると　すぐにおわかりになると思います（教えてくださった方に感謝！）。 　以下は、もちろん　自己責任ですが、私がわからずに嵌ってしまったことについて補足します。 　・起動時にマウントされるディスクイメージ「BorderlandsData.dmg」は、Borderlands GOTYを右クリックして「パッケージの内容を表示」した際の、「/Contents/Resources」に入ってます。 　・「WillowEngine.ini」は、「/Library/Preferences/Feral Interactive/Borderlands GOTY/MacInit」に入ってます（ちなみに、この「Borderlands GOTY」フォルダを丸ごと削除して起動すれば、初期状態に戻ります。あと、SaveDataフォルダには、各セーブデータがあります）。ホームフォルダから、”フォルダの移動”で　さきほどのパスをコピペすれば一発で行けます。 　・蛇足ですが、Windowsでの”上書き”は、ファイルがフォルダに追加／上書きされます。MacでもLionから同じ事ができるようになりましたが、それ以前のMacでは、フォルダを上書きすると「置き換」わってしまうので、要注意です。 　・ちなみに、".7z"形式の解凍については、私は”Keka”というアプリを使用しました（作者の方に感謝。また、UNIXの恩恵をいち早く受けられるようになったMacにも）。

I think this is by far the best game on the app sotre. Not only was it a hit when it came out, but still is a very popular game, and I love it! onther good thing is that this is the game of the year edition, which when it is downloaded you have access to all the dlc that have been made! The graffics are also amazing, or atleast they are going to be on anything macbook and heigher, for air users it might cause some trouble. Over all I think it is the best game on appstore, and deffinatly the most popular untill wolrd of warcaft comes out.

it just doesn’t work on 10.9.3 mac mini 2013. Give me my money back or I will sue you. Error logs are sent to Apple...

When I tried to start a new game with another character the entire area just turned green and the majority of the game now looks like a static with the game still somehow playing. And strangest thing now is that the game is closing at the star of the game and at the logo intros when they start playing, specifically the 2K logo at the end. Is there any possible way to update this game to fix some these problems or not? It still works though just gotta skip most of the scenes and you get straight to the game.

Let me be clear, this is a GREAT 4-5 star game; The cell shading style still holds up and the gameplay is still tight and works great. the “Plot” was never anything to write home about though it did give the game solid progression even if it wasn’t really much of a story BUT the company that used to run the multiplayer servers (GameSpy) went out of business and there has been NO UPDATE to do ANYTHING about this By Feril Interactive 2K Games transitioned Borderlands over to Steam but that was only the Windows version, they made clear that any updates to the Mac version were FERIL’s responsibility the mac version has had NO SUPORT WHATSOEVER! if you accidently click on the online multiplayer in the menu the game instantly crashes because you’re telling it to do the impossible! as such the game is currently broken and only local LAN works for Multiplayer.

after the problems with the new update i was content with just giving this game a 1 star. however after contacing support they replyed very quickly with the solution. again this is a great sandbox rpg and hopefully will continue to keep improving. i recomend this game completely based off the game itself and the great app support!

THIS GAME IS, IN FACT, THE BEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I PLAYED IT FOR HOURS OVER AND OVER, AND THEN WHEN I PLAYED IT INTO THE GROUND, I RESTARTED. THEN, I GOT IT ON THE PS3 AND IT WAS JUST AS GOOD. IF YOU ARE A VIDEO GAME PLAYER, THIS GAME IS DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY!

Totaly worth the money but for the people wondering it would work best with a mouse
